Give me one reason to let these walls down

One reason to throw out all of my hard work

Given the severity of damage this past year has caused

How am I to be expected to toss it all out

With nothing more than a good-bye

Rather than a good riddence

I'll be the first to admit that this is low

But I'll be the very last to say it hasn't been worth it

Hasn't been the most important lesson since learning to walk

To keep moving forward

Moving quickly,

Head down but mind way too high

Matching footsteps with an ever racing heartbeat

When asked of my well being I will not hesitate to smile,

Stare at the ground

While articulating the biggest lie of two-thousand and sixteen:

"I am fine, everything is good."
