Electronic Pulsation

A crackling lightbulb fizzles
and flickers. It sounds like
a flame sizzling on a thin
string of wick attached to

an explosive dynamite stick.
This scratching noise slides
across my eardrum with an
electric itch. Now that I think
more about it, its swirling tick

resembles the scanning
frequency of a radiation
instrument; Made to
read toxic waste.

The screeching of this
electronic pulsation also
reminds me of a teacher's
nails, scraping against an
old green chalkboard in a
classroom without the
student's full attention.

Strange indeed to see
these similarities from
hearing a loose wire
switch trickle a formality.
