Too tired, we stretch wide
our eyes raspy with sand
find sky meets beach
meets fog mid brain.

Too hurried, mile posts thump
melding tree and field green
grasses like smoke
ablaze with day stream.

Too responsible, the calls
shrill alarm call alarm
yellow leaps into orange sparks red
until the char field reflects end.

The way we paint our eyes
ears, voice, speed recedes
advances, a never-ending movie
canvas without a driving theme.
