Today is the Present

Today I became a man.

I killed the child within.

I became filled with determination,

and I came to my senses.

Once upon a time I left myself behind,

But no more will I let the mirror blind me.

I feel the pride returning to my eyes,

and I know they'll all forgive me.

I have done my time, and I know I'll do some more.

It's the price you pay for locking yourself out and closing the door.

But when that door opens, man,

You better grab the handle.

Otherwise you'll be burnt alive from the fire inside,

And believe me, you won't find the right words to say.

Speak from the heart because it's the best start,

And the veil will be lifted.

Keep friends close and family closer,

You'll see all that you've been gifted.
