Continuum

Journey to a place unknown;
Slowly my mind wanders...
Like a tipping scale back and forth.
Arrhythmic, it totters
Slowly in a spiral,
Shakily sliding up and down.
Hopefully it doesn't unravel.
Wrapped inside a sphere so dark,
Only illuminated by fireflies,
Blinking out of sight.
Sitting outside, I observe,
Mesmerized, unblinking.
So many voices, so many cries...
To which do I give answer?
A choice is presented,
Balanced on a needle:
For one gets answered,
And one gets none.
Doesn't seem a fitting crucible.
Shouldn't they strive?
From up on high,
Or laying on the ground?
For whatever may be my name,
The message never changes.
